Baking Cookies

I am a fan of the chocolate chip cookie, plain and simple. After making many, many batches using various recipes I keep coming back to my old tried and true variation of a Betty Crocker recipe. There's almost no way to screw this one up. The cookies seem to turn out perfectly chocolatey with a hint of butter every time. They have a way of disappearing mysteriously when Mr. Jinx is about. Here's the basic recipe. Enjoy!

3/4 c. granulated sugar
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
1 c. stick butter, softened
1 large egg
2-1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
2 c. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Mix sugars, butter, and egg in large bowl. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt (dough will be stiff). Stir in nuts and chocolate chips. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes or until light brown. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet and cool on wire rack. Makes 3 dozen.
